CTGBC TRAILBLAZER AWARD:

In recognition of the work or contributions that have a unique and lasting impact on the welfare of the public and the environment. CTGBC introduced the Trailblazer Award in 2019.

The CTGBC Trailblazer Award will be bestowed upon an individual, organization or community by the CTGBC Board of Directors in recognition of their efforts to transform or promote strategies and methodologies that encourage intelligent stewardship of our resources. This award category is not confined to a physical project but could apply to an outreach / communication platform, a product innovation, a policy initiative, etc. We welcome a diverse array of submissions that reflect the work by an individual or group, that is transformative, not just for the immediate future, but in a manner that serves future generations.

As the CTGBC Board has said, “The seeds for sustainability sown today will feed the livability of the generations of tomorrow.”

Eligibility:

  • Individuals
  • Organizations
  • Communities

Please refer to the CTGBC Trailblazer PowerPoint template for more detailed submission instructions. Each entry must be submitted using PowerPoint format (provided).

PROJECT AWARDS:

The CTGBC recognizes that sustainability in the built environment can be pursued through various high performance and green building rating systems or standards. We encourage submittals for projects that reflect this expansive pool of sustainable design standards, such as, but not limited to:

  • LEED
  • Passive House
  • Living Building Challenge
  • Net Zero
  • Energy Star
  • Green Globes
  • Enterprise Green Communities
  • National Green Building Standard

Eligibility:

Project entries must be works that have achieved substantial completion within the last three years (since May 2017). The exception is for Student Design projects. The Project does not need to be occupied but must be substantially complete and able to demonstrate significant “green” strategies and performance (see Judging and Criteria below). Student Design projects should identify sustainability goals.

Firms may submit more than one project for consideration; each project submitted shall be entered individually. Projects may be nominated in one of the following categories:

  • Commercial
  • Public / Institutional
  • Single Family Residential
  • Multifamily Residential
  • Site
  • Passive House (an award given in collaboration with CT Passive House)
  • Out-of-State

All projects must be located in Connecticut unless entered in the Out-of-State Project category. Please refer to Project PowerPoint template for details.
