DesignPH | 02 Solar: Location, Orientation, Shadow

This webinar by Ed May allows Passive House professionals to easily draw, manage and simulate buildings alongside PHPP.

02_Solar: Location, Orientation, Sketchup Axes, Shadow Studies:

The PHPP Excel Energy Model has always featured a unique window shading calculation process capable of accurately and quickly determining shading factors. This critical part of the Passive House design process was significantly improved and updated with the release of the new DesignPH 2.0 Sketchup plugin. This all-new shading process allows even easier shading input and more accurate calculations no matter how complex the shading elements in a scene become. Complicated contexts, screens, louvers and plantings can all now be quickly and easily modeled to asses their effect on overall building performance and overheating risk. This session will walk through the setup for an accurate shading assessment and will look at both the native Sketchup tools for geo-location and orientation as well as the new DesignPH 2.0 shading workflow.
