The Global Passive House Happy Hour is held Wednesday at 4 pm (Pacific), 7 pm (Eastern), midnight (British), and 9 am (Thursday, Australian Eastern). Join us 30 minutes early for pre-show networking or stick around following the main event four After Hour!
Passive House practitioners have “operational carbon” down. We’re expert at ratcheting down operational greenhouse gas emissions in buildings and have been doing so for nearly three decades. But the upfront, “embodied carbon” emitted during construction? Cracking that nut is as new to us as it is to the rest of the greenbuilding community. If we want the buildings we design and build (or retrofit) to truly be climate solutions, not climate problems, we know we need to address embodied carbon. We get it. But how do we make it actionable?
Stacy Smedley has answers. She is Director of Sustainability at Skanska USA, Executive Director of Building Transparency, and a driving force behind the new EC3 tool (Embodied Carbon in Construction Calculator), developed by Microsoft, Skanska, and other heavy hitters. She’ll share her insights at our Global Passive House Happy Hour this Wednesday, July 8. Her presentation will build upon that day’s NAPHN Passive House 2020 conference panel: “What’s Your Building’s Carbon Debt? You Should Know.”
Don’t miss this chance for a deep dive into upfront carbon with Smedley, plus a chance for lots of (virtual) face-to-face interaction with her and other experts and peers at the Happy Hour. Register here.
