Ms. Barry is a licensed architect based in San Francisco, CA. She was educated in South Africa, the UK and the USA and holds a Bachelor of Arts in History of Art and English Literature from the University of Natal-KwaZulu. She completed post-graduate studies in Architecture at UC Berkeley before apprenticing at various architecture practices throughout the Bay Area. She now runs her own design practice, PassiveHouseBB, which focuses exclusively on Passive House buildings. Ms. Barry is a Certified Passive House Designer and founding member of both Passive House California and the North American Passive House Network. She served as the chair of the Passipedia Committee for the International Passive House Association (iPHA) and currently serves as President of the North American Passive House Network and Co-President of Passive House California.
Ms. Barry is widely recognized for her Passive House advocacy and her dynamic presentations focused on Passive House-related topics. She is regularly invited to present at local, national and international Passive House gatherings. Highlights include keynote addresses at the 2015 ISIAQ Conference in Boulder, CO; the US Forestry Department’s North American Wood Window and Door Symposium and the 2015 and 2016 South Pacific Passive House Conferences.
