The Global Passive House Happy Hour is held Wednesdays at 4 pm (Pacific), 7 pm (Eastern), midnight (British), and 11 am (Thursdays, Australian Eastern). Join us 30 minutes early for pre-show networking and stick around following the main event for our After Hour!

Next week we welcome Cillian Collins, senior architect at Perkins + Will’s Vancouver office, to present the stunning SoLo project. This off-grid, all-electric, mass timber Passive House designed in partnership with Delta Land Developments, is a prototype for off-grid, zero carbon construction. Given the project’s remote location in British Columbia’s Soo Valley, the team constructed the building using prefabricated panels manufactured offsite. SoLo’s robust building envelope is designed to withstand a wide range of outside temperatures, with lows reaching ‑30°C in the winter and highs reaching over 30°C in the summer.

Cillian will present on the stewardship-based model that informed SoLo’s design and will share challenges, lessons learned, and the feasibility of mass timber Passive House projects in Canada. He will be joined by special guest Kirk Robinson, Senior Vice President Delta Land Development who, in addition to SoLo, is responsible for other exciting projects like Canada’s Earth Tower.
