Deep energy retrofits are set to be one of the largest markets in the building industry. In New York state alone 80% of buildings that exist today will exist in 2050. And those buildings will need to be retrofitted if we are to reach our collective climate goals.
This week we welcome James Geppner, RetrofitNY project manager for New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), to present lessons for accelerating and scaling-up the retrofit industry and market during our Global Passive House Happy Hour.
James is an expert in behavioral change and market transformation—you may know him from his thought-leading work at Erase40.org. At his presentation, James will examine what holds the industry back currently, and ways to unlock the industry to make a rapid shift toward Passive House and zero energy retrofits. Recently, RetrofityNY received pledges totaling 250,000 units from building owners to adopt a zero energy retrofit solution once it becomes available in the market, a critical step in the right direction.
Tune into the October 7 Happy Hour to hear about the ripples the retrofit revolution will make in the building industry.
