Martha Campbell & Amy Egerter of RMI to Headline PH Happy Hour (Oct 14)

October 09, 2020

The Global Passive House Happy Hour is held Wednesdays at 4 pm (Pacific), 7 pm (Eastern), midnight (British), and 10 am (Thursdays, Australian Eastern). Join us 30 minutes early for pre-show networking and stick around following the main event for our After Hour!

The Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) is a global leader in charting pathways to a zero carbon economy. Given the critical role of building retrofits in making this shift, it should be no surprise that the group is leading an ambitious program to “realize” retrofits at scale: the REALIZE Initiative. The program’s goal is to standardize retrofits that are affordable and convenient using semi-industrial approaches in order to respond rapidly to the imperative for deep energy retrofits across the U.S. PHIUS is a founding partner and core team member of REALIZE, with the PHIUS technical team responsible for passive building energy modeling and the climate and cost-optimized energy metrics, standards and design guidelines for the REALIZE retrofit packages.

For our Global Passive House Happy Hour this week we welcome two driving forces behind the REALIZE project at RMI: Martha Campbell, principal and leader of the initiative, and Amy Egerter, technical lead for the initiative and project manager for its California Energy Commission grant.

Their multidisciplinary approach combines technical innovation with workforce training around low carbon building. This includes engaging historically disenfranchised communities through job training and opportunities. Amy, who works directly with the California Energy Commission grant, will dive into market facilitation and retrofit package demonstrations, sharing RMI’s progress in moving the industry towards scalable retrofits.

Join us at the October 14 Global Passive House Happy Hour to hear Martha and Amy report on the REALIZE retrofit mission in California and across the country.
