Join us this Tuesday, September 21, to learn about the construction of PAE Engineers' new Living Building offices in Portland, Oregon, presented by Ed Sloop of Walsh Construction.
Living Building Challenge and Passive House are kindred spirits; they both demand deep and measurable building performance gains. There are obvious differences, of course, both in the breadth of sustainability goals and in the philosophy around energy targets, but both approaches result in healthy buildings with very low EUI (energy use intensity). And most Living Buildings draw on similar passive design and construction strategies to the ones we use in Passive House practice.
Ed will dive into the technical, the technique, and the technology of the construction of this Living Building project, including its high performance envelope, energy recovery ventilation, radiant heating and cooling, solar PV, and more. And don't miss this week's Global Passive House Showcase on Wednesday to hear from Kathy Berg of ZGF Architects and Marc Brune of PAE about the design approach to the building.
