First Passive House Leisure Centre in the UK Opens in Exeter

St. Sidwell’s Point in Exeter has finally opened. The leisure center includes new public swimming and fitness facilities for residents of the British city. However, the facility has attracted international attention because it is the first leisure center in the United Kingdom built to Passive House standards, and one of only three in the world to achieve a level of performance that makes it eligible for Passive House certification. The facility uses approximately 70% less energy than conventional leisure centers and utilizes water saving technologies that will likely be replicated in future projects.

The center is owned and operated by the Exeter City Council. S&P served as the lead design team. To learn more about the project, check out this recent article in Business Green: https://www.businessgreen.com/news/4048947/example-uk-most-energy-efficient-passivhaus-leisure-centre-exeter
