Greenport Passive House is Where Rustic Design Meets High Performance

New York-based architect Wayne Turett of Turett Collaborative has designed his own carbon-neutral home in the bucolic harbor town of Greenport, which is located on Long Island’s North Fork. Known as the Greenport Passive House, the exterior design takes a great deal of inspiration from some of the area’s barns, but the interior design reveals a clear reverence for the Passive House methodology. Consequently, Turett’s home consumes approximately 90 percent less heating energy when compared with existing homes and 75 percent less heating energy when compared with average new construction.
