Latest Issue of Passive House Magazine Now Available!

The latest issue of Passive House Accelerator magazine is now available for download on the Passive House Accelerator site! This issue’s theme of Outrage + Optimism is a reflection of the Solarpunk ethos that is described in the magazine by PHA Director Zack Semke. In response to the pessimism and fatalism of Cyberpunk, Solarpunk “recognizes that if we spend all our energy imagining apocalypse, then we won’t have any left to envision the future that we actually want to build,” Semke writes.

In this issue, we explore how Passive House design will play a vital role in the future built environment, particularly by focusing on case studies from a wide range of building typologies in North America and beyond. These include a new mass timber multifamily in Boston, a mixed-use supportive housing building in Seattle, and an expansive residential project in Cartagena, Colombia—among several others. On the cover is Winthrop Center, which is currently under construction and will contain the largest amount of Passive House certified office space in any building in the world when completed within the next year.

Though we still have a lot of work to do, and it is important to maintain a certain level of outrage to fuel our efforts, we also have a lot of reasons to be optimistic. We hope you feel the same way after reading the magazine.
