We’re excited to welcome LG Air Conditioning Technologies for a Component Spotlight event focused on Air-to-Water Heat Pumps and Heat Pump Water Heaters—minus the headaches. LG will share insights on how their technology is evolving to meet the needs of high-performance and Passive House projects—and where it’s headed next.
Air-to-water heat pumps are flexible; that’s the opportunity and the trap. The LG team will lay out common use cases (radiant, fan coils, mini-chiller, retrofit vs. new build), then get blunt about best practices, water temps that protect COP, when to buffer, glycol & freeze-protect strategy, and controls that actually make sense.
We also cover HPWH integration and where the Air-to-Water tech is heading (R-290 readiness).
We close with a thought experiment for high-rise Passive House: Imagine a centralized bank of outdoor units feeding three insulated tanks (DHW, heating, chilled water) with seasonal switching and tenant sub-metering via flow meters. Should we scope a feasibility study—and who wants in as partners?
WARNING: Things will get geeky.
Thank you LG Air Conditioning Technologies for your support of PHA! https://lghvac.com/
