Passive House Certification Anticipated For 8-Story Affordable Housing Development in Queens
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio cut the ribbon yesterday for Beach Green Dunes II, a new affordable housing complex in Far Rockaway that is expected to receive Passive House certification. The eight-story project, which was developed by L&M Builders, will house 128 families and include 2,600 square feet of ground-floor retail. Some of the most important design features include solar arrays on the rooftop and in the courtyard, as well as features to make it more resilient to flooding. It was designed by Curtis + Ginsberg Architects LLP.
