Passive House Week In Preview: July 19

1. 2021 New Gravity, Accelerated Edition

Passive House Accelerator is partnering with Green Building United for the 5th annual New Gravity housing conference: 2021 New Gravity, Accelerated Edition. New Gravity is focused on discussing and promoting policies and practices that support high-performance affordable housing. This year will feature four virtual interactive sessions ranging from technical insight on projects to broader market transformation discussions, and participants will be joining across the globe! Wednesday, July 21 and Thursday, July 22 at 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm ET, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm PT. Attendance is Pay What You Wish (sliding scale fee). CEUs TBA.

A note to Global Passive House Happy Hour goers: 2021 New Gravity will take place in lieu of this week's Happy Hour. So please join us there instead this Wednesday!

2. TUE: Protecting Passive Building Performance

Without quality assurance & control, what is Passive House design? Rob Hosken, principal at Building Performance Architecture, will join us at the July 20 Construction Tech to answer this question. During Rob’s presentation, Protecting Passive Building Performance, he will draw on his decades of knowledge supporting high-performance buildings. Learn more.

3. NOW LIVE: Episode 48 of the Passive House Podcast

Matthew interviews Norm Horn of Envinity in State College (Pennsylvania) about Norm's path from landscape architecture student to builder to reluctant energy efficient building practitioner to full bore Passive House tradesperson and consultant. Norm is working on a 12,000 EnerPHit masonry retrofit. 4. BONUS: Podcast Episodes from the NAPHN Conference

Early last month we had the pleasure of attending, in person, NAPHN's hybrid conference, "Passive House for All", in New York City. (Yay for vaccines!) While there, Zack conducted 18 interviews with leaders, educators, developers, and practitioners from the hustle and bustle conference hall floor. 5. Save the Date: Fall Conferences & Summits

25th International Passive House Conference (September 10-11)
The conference is planned as an in-person event in the historical City Hall of Wuppertal, Germany, on September 10 and 11. There will also be online offerings accompanying the event to reach a global audience. Tower Retrofit Symposium 2021 Passive House Canada (September 22-23)
Across Canada, tall buildings are on the cusp of a major market shift, driven by our need to drastically reduce emissions and capture a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform deep energy retrofits. Building owners also need to reduce operating costs while providing high-performing homes and office space. Learn more.

South Pacific Passive House Conference (November 25-17)
PHINZ along with APHA and AUT will host the next South Pacific Passive House Conference in Auckland, November 25th-27th this year. More details to come.
