Passive House Weekly December 26, 2022

December 26th, 2022

What an incredible year it has been! We are thankful for our dedicated team of staff and cohosts as well as our sustaining sponsors, presenters, interviewees, and of course, our community of practitioners. With your help we have continued to strengthen and cultivate a collaborative platform for sharing innovation and thought leadership, and we look forward to growing a larger community of the Passive House curious—and ultimately the Passive House committed—in the year ahead.

In case you missed our most recent Construction Tech event, we announced two new programs for 2023, our 101 Edition and our Next Gen Edition, both of which have been designed to expand the PH community and create an interactive forum for newer practitioners who are interested and curious about Passive House.

We also announced that after much consideration and feedback from you, our usual Wednesday programming in 2023 will be moving to an earlier time slot, 9am Vancouver / 12 noon New York /  5pm London / 6pm Darmstadt. Our hope is that this shift will allow more of our North American community to tune in and join us during the workday now that we’re in (mostly?) post-Covid times. And hopefully, a few more viewers can join us from across the pond. To our loyal community down under, we have something in the works to accommodate the time change and hope you can join us on YouTube for now.

As a reminder, our programs are taking the next two weeks off. Don't worry! The website will still be publishing new content and you can always catch up or revisit previous episodes of the Passive House Podcast or check out any LIVE! episodes that you may have missed by going to our YouTube page.

See you next year!

NOW LIVE: Episode 119 of the Passive House Podcast

PH Podcast rectangle 2022 12 26 MarkLyles

Zack interviews Mark Lyles, Senior Project Manager at New Buildings Institute (NBI). The two conducted the interview in the PAE Living Building in Portland, Oregon, the site of NBI's headquarters and Oregon's first full Living Building. Mark shares news from NBI's work on the International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), his work helping to develop ASHRAE's Passive Building Standard (227p), his thoughts about the interplay between performance-based and prescriptive-based building code and standards, and his thoughts about what's on the horizon for Passive House.
