Reimagine Labs is back for spring! Sign-ups are open through Monday, April 20, and the first session for the Spring Labs kicks off on Earth Day, April 22.

Reimagine Labs brings together a small group of folks from within the Reimagine Buildings Collective to concentrate on a specific problem or issue within the world of high-performance building. Groups meet three times over the course of a few months, and then create an Insight Brief that is available the Reimagine Buildings Collective and the wider Passive House community.

Last fall's groups were centered on deep energy retrofits retrofits, with topics including sequencing, swapped cost data, and biomaterials. You can see their insight briefs here. Our six Spring 2026 Labs are less focused on a single issue and instead address a broad range of challenges. They include:

• The Retrofit Cookbook Lab — picking up where last fall's group left off, building out the phased single-family retrofit playbook

• Nature-Based Performance Lab — energy-smart design with bio-based materials (hemp, cork, cellulose, wood fiber)

• Construction for Deconstruction Lab — assemblies that make high-performance buildings maintainable, adaptable, and ultimately circular

• Office-to-Residential Conversions Lab — the design, technical, and financial puzzles of turning stranded office buildings into homes

• Active Survivability Lab — resilience beyond thermal comfort: battery backup, safe rooms, food systems

• Selling PH in an Era of Energy Insecurity Lab — new messaging for the energy security conversation people are actually having

This is just a starting point. If you've got a different topic that you'd like to champion, please let us know. Labs are driven by the people in them. If a topic generates enough energy, we'll build one around it.
