101: Panelization

101 september 9th 2026

Interested in panelized construction but not sure where to begin? Join architect and Certified Passive House Designer Barry Price for an introduction to the fundamentals of panelization, drawing on his experience designing and completing more than a dozen panelized buildings.

This session explores the planning, coordination, and practical lessons that help make panelized projects successful. Through a tour of completed projects, Barry will share real-world insights into optimizing building systems, collaborating effectively with consultants and fabricators, understanding cost implications, and avoiding common pitfalls.

Topics include:

  • Planning: Design strategies that maximize the benefits of panelized systems.

  • Coordination: Best practices for digital modeling, file exchange, consultant and fabricator collaboration, and sequencing.

  • Lessons Learned: Practical anecdotes and recommendations from completed projects that highlight the details every project team should understand.

Whether you're new to panelization or looking to refine your approach, this session will provide actionable guidance grounded in real project experience.

Barry Price designs low-carbon, high-performance buildings inspired by the beauty of New York's Hudson Valley. His work integrates advanced building techniques and regional materials, balancing modern and traditional design while pursuing a symbiotic relationship between the built and natural worlds. A licensed architect and Certified Passive House Designer, Barry brings expertise in panelized construction, Passive House design, and emerging carbon accounting tools. He has presented for Passive House Accelerator and Phius, and is an active member of Phius and NESEA.

This session is also the first PHA Live in its new home. We've moved the Wednesday series into a dedicated space in the Reimagine Buildings Collective, our community of practice for people making buildings that meet the climate moment. The sessions are still live on Zoom and still free. What changes is the housekeeping: you register once, and from then on you have one place to see what's coming, RSVP, get reminders, join the conversation, and watch every replay.

This free presentation will take place on Wednesday, September 9th at 9am PT / 12pm ET and will be followed by a lively Q+A session. Don't miss this opportunity to learn from an industry leader and engage with the PHA community. See you there!
