Reimagine Buildings Collective: AMA Friday with Brandon Pietras

Event presented by Reimagine Buildings Collective

Friday, October 30th from 12pm-1pm eastern (Virtual)

How do we electrify buildings affordably?

Brandon Pietras will field your questions on his team's recent report for Penn South, along with two new affordable multifamily projects pursuing Phius certification, both designed to be all-electric. Expect a practical look at what it takes to bring electrification to housing where budgets are tight and every dollar counts, including what's working, what's challenging, and what lessons can carry over to your own projects.

Whether you work in multifamily, affordable housing, or are simply curious about making electrification achievable for everyone, bring your questions and join the conversation.

About Brandon Pietras

Brandon has worked at Bernheimer Architecture since 2017 as a designer, project manager, and now the office's first Lead of Decarbonization and Building Health. Brandon oversaw the design and construction of the office's first PHI-certified multifamily project and now directs BA's work with NYSERDA's Buildings of Excellence Early Design Support program. BA is now working on their third and fourth EDS projects. Their first, River Commons (Approaching Zero: Evaluating Net-Zero Carbon in Affordable Multifamily Housing Design), is under construction and is the first BA project employing PTHPs for dwelling unit conditioning. Their second, Penn South in the Era of Decarbonization, explores the potential for the limited-equity coop to ensure affordability and resilience while complying with LL97. Their two ongoing EDS projects, The Heartwood and Stapleton Beacon, explore healthy materials, embodied carbon reduction, and climate resilience. BA is a signatory to US Architects Declare and the Architecture 2030 Commitment. When he isn't squinting at EPDs, Brandon can be found running or building guitars in his garage.
