Join us for this AMA Friday with Greta Tjeltveit, a building science specialist at 4EA Building Science who has spent the past several years testing and verifying building enclosures across the Pacific Northwest. Greta got her start on job sites as a crew lead with Habitat for Humanity Seattle/King County before moving into rating and verification work, and she has since helped verify some of the first Phius-certified multifamily buildings in Washington State.
Bring your questions on blower door testing, sequencing air sealing so it holds up through the rest of construction, and where air barriers tend to fail on both single-family and multifamily projects. Greta works directly with design teams to turn air barrier details into something a crew can actually build, then verifies the result on site, so this is a chance to ask someone who tests these assemblies for a living what separates a plan that looks airtight on paper from one that performs that way in the field.
About Greta Tjeltveit
Greta Tjeltveit (pronounced "Chelt-vayt") studied architecture at the University of Washington and began her career in construction in 2015 as a crew lead with Habitat for Humanity Seattle/King County, overseeing volunteers and supporting sustainable building practices. She later transitioned into building performance and certification work, becoming a rater and verifier across multiple regional and national certification programs, including Phius, where she discovered her passion for building science.
Greta now works as a building science consultant at 4EA Building Science, focusing on the design, site review, and performance testing of building enclosures, often aligned with passive building concepts. She collaborates with project teams to develop simple, constructible solutions, performs site testing to verify performance, and has helped verify some of the first Phius-certified multifamily apartment buildings in Washington State. Greta continues to champion passive building throughout the region through her consulting work and service on the Passive House Northwest board.
