About Jeff Spiritos
Jeff Spiritos is the principal of Spiritos Properties LLC, a commercial and residential developer that builds, advocates for, and consults on mass timber projects in the Northeast. Spiritos was a project lead over 25 years with Hines (primarily in NYC) before starting Spiritos Properties in 2004 and for the past ten plus years has turned to build only with mass timber structural systems, combined with passive house practices and rooftop solar, to achieve low carbon building solutions. Principal projects include Acme Timber Lofts, a multifamily rental apartment vertical extension project, 340+ Dixwell, a mixed income affordable housing project, both in New Haven, Ct, and 79 King Street, a multifamily apartment building in Northampton, Mass, in predevelopment planning. Both the New Haven projects were selected for USDA Forest Service Wood Innovation Grants. The firm was the developer partner for the East Coast winner of the US Tall Wood Building Competition in 2015 for 475 West 18th, a 10-story condominium project in NYC, conceived but not built. Spiritos has a BSCE from Duke University and an MBA from the University of Michigan and is the chair of the CTBUH Tall Timber and Steel-Timber Hybrid Committees.
