The Kyabirwa Surgical Center Ward is a pioneering, self-sustaining healthcare facility in rural Uganda, designed to operate entirely on solar energy, harvested rainwater, and comprehensive waste management systems. This session highlights the innovative design that integrates local materials and labor with advanced medical technologies, creating a sustainable and culturally relevant structure. Architects will gain insights into the challenges and solutions of constructing environmentally efficient healthcare facilities in remote settings and the benefits of global medical partnerships for enhancing local healthcare capabilities.
