Mastering Modern EIFS with Stone Wool Insulation – Tested and Compliant Solutions that Elevate Performance of your Exterior Passive House Wall

Since 1969, EIFS has been a cost effective tool to address continuous insulation needs on buildings throughout North America.  As demand for high performance low energy buildings has grown, so to has the use of EIFS on buildings throughout the US and Canada, often incorporating foam plastic insulation.

Alternatively, EIFS incorporating high density stone wool insulation is gaining momentum in North America and is an approach that has been commonplace in Europe for years.  With fire safety top of mind these days, North American codes and standards are changing, requiring more fire resilient wall assemblies, leading to the adoption of stone wool EIFS solutions in areas like NYC, California, and beyond.  In the Passive House world, factors such as lower embodied carbon and resiliency has further pushed the adoption of this approach.

In this program, we will cover strategies for designing and installing Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) with stone wool exterior continuous insulation.  We will also dive into multiple passive house case studies that have utilized stone wool EIFS to address their performance requirements.

Participants will come away with tangible solutions, insight into proper detailing and installation, and an improved understanding of the performance benefits including fire, acoustics, sustainability, and durability, among others of stone wool EIFS assemblies.

During this course, you will learn how the latest energy codes in residential and commercial construction, along with other regulatory requirements can be achieved using non combustible insulation. The information outlined will include the performance of modern EIFS with drainage systems, and the properties of stone wool that makes the insulation a suitable substrate for the lamina.

WARNING: Things will get geeky.

This free presentation will take place on Thursday, February 6th at 9am PT / 12pm ET and will be followed by a lively Q+A session. See you there!
