What happens when we apply a decade of hindsight to a well-executed Passive House project? In this session, Bryn Davidson reflects on the Dalebright Passive House—an all-electric, single-family home built by Lanefab in Burnaby, BC—as a springboard for asking deeper questions about the future of green building. Though the project reused salvaged materials and delivered comfort and performance, Bryn challenges us to consider the limitations of today’s certification frameworks and building norms.
Participants will learn about the project’s design, assemblies, and systems, while exploring how embodied carbon, transportation emissions, and legacy site choices factor into a home's true climate impact. Bryn also highlights the outsized role of zoning, parking, and urban planning in shaping building-related emissions—and makes the case for Passive House professionals to engage more actively in these broader systems.
