Stas Zakrzewski received his Bachelors of Architecture degree from University College Dublin and his Master of Architecture from Columbia University where he graduated with honors for excellence in design. Prior to attending graduate school, Stas worked as design architect for Hisao Koyama in Tokyo, Japan and later at Skidmore Owings & Merrill in New York City. After graduating from Columbia University, Stas worked as design architect and project manager at both Wendy Evans Joseph Architect and at Maya Lin’s Studio where he successfully saw through a number of institutional projects.
Stas started his own practice in 2000 and worked independently until the establishment of ZH Architects in 2004. His facility in detailing brings unique solutions to each design challenge, regardless of budget, scale or program. Stas is a registered architect in the State of New York, a Certified Passive House Consultant and a LEED AP.
Stas is currently a board member of the non profit New York Passive House organization and has recently been was appointed to the Advisory Board for New York City’s Local Law 97, an unprecedented commitment by the City of New York to increase the sustainability of buildings and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
