Minimize, Maximize or Balance: Designing for Net Zero on an Urban Site (WED, 6/14)

Doppelhaus Solln

The unity of living and outdoor space is the basic premise of the architectural concept for this certified Passive House. A continuous band is a physical signal of this principle and connects all outer buildings, the carport, the entrances and verandas with the main house. On the upper floors, further bands create a cohesive appearance.

For this eco-friendly Passive House, primarily renewable raw materials were used for the building components, including wood in construction, exterior cladding, doors and floor coverings, as well as the use of cellulose and hemp as insulation material in exterior and interior walls.
