The municipal real estate company Armada Fastighets AB in Åkersberga was the first in Sweden to invest in building a preschool with international Passive House certification.
The preschool has a reference area of 821 m² (ATemp = 877 m²) and five departments with 90 children. The construction consists of a load-bearing concrete frame and wood-light control system with cellulose insulation. Heating is provided via solar collectors and a heat pump with an output of 8.4 kW. A ground-coupled heat exchanger preheats the air during winter and provides cooling in the summer.
From the property owners:
“We are very pleased with the building, both in appearance, execution and energy. We have received a lot of praise from visitors for both color scheme, outdoor environment and business. That it then "works" very well in terms of energy, everyone is happy. Our manager for municipal premises wants us to only build Passive Houses, hopefully we will build more.”
