The Goldsmith Street development, a trailblazing Passive House social housing project in Norwich, England just won the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize 2019. The winning of the award by a Passive House affordable housing project serves as testament not only to the excellence of Mikhail Riches’ design scheme but also to the growing momentum in the architectural world to grapple with the climate impact of buildings and the resiliency of our communities.
“Faced with a global climate emergency, the worst housing crisis for generations and crippling local authority cuts, Goldsmith Street is a beacon of hope,” said Alan Jones, President of the RIBA (the Royal Institute of British Architects) in an article in Architects’ Journal announcing the award.
