Finished just two months before the devastating Marshall Fire in Colorado, Mark Attard's Passive House retrofit came just in time. As he watched his neighborhood go up in flames on national TV on that terrible day in December 2021, he assumed his house was destroyed. In fact, a house just across the street was claimed by the fire. But thanks to a combination of good luck as well as the fire hardening from his Passive House retrofit, his home was spared from the flames. The house was also spared from the toxic smoke damage suffered by so many of his neighbors' houses.
