Millennium Partners Becomes Accelerator Partner

The latest firm to join the Passive House Accelerator community as an Accelerator Partner is Millennium Partners. The development firm has sought to put sustainability first as they create  unique spaces that blend sophisticated design with the cutting edge of energy efficient construction. For the last twenty years, they have been ahead of the curve with respect to green building and developing stronger communities. From their commitment to the minority workforce to building quality affordable housing, to their contributions to city parks and urban livability, Millennium Partners’ purpose has been transforming neighborhoods and lifting up the community.

The crown jewel of firm’s portfolio is Winthrop Center, which is currently the largest Passive House office building in the world (read our coverage of this project here). Designed by Handel Architects, the 691-foot tower is home to over 800,000 square feet of office space. It received final certification in 2023 and played host to a celebration that included Mayor Michelle Wu as a guest. Since opening, it has attracted some major tenants, including Deloitte, Cambridge Associates, and McKinsey & Company. M&T Bank will become a tenant in January 2025.

Beyond commercial tenants, Winthrop is also home to 317 condominiums and 510,000 square feet of residential space. These units sit on the upper floors of the 62-story building. At the ground level, Winthrop includes a through-block space that seamlessly connects to the surrounding urban landscape, including Winthrop Square. Aptly referred to as The Connector, this public arcade has become flooded with new restaurants and shops and is already an integral part of social life in Downtown Boston.

As Millennium Partners Director of Sustainable Development Brad Mahony emphasizes, sustainability was the focal point throughout the design and construction of Winthrop Center. From the beginning, Millennium Partners wanted to set a new standard of excellence and to celebrate their values through the creation of not just a building, but a community.
