1. THU: Passive House Component Spotlight with LAMILUX

Join us Thursday, October 21 (10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern) for a special Passive House Component Spotlight with LAMILUX. This presentation looks at the designs and details of LAMILUX daylight systems that provide exceptional performance as well as Passive House project examples from around the world to show attendees what is possible when designing with daylight in mind. 2. TUE: Rural Passive House Initiatives in Western Alabama

This presentation is filled with tangible lessons learned (they even wrote a book on it) about performance-driven affordable housing in Western Alabama. Join us to hear from Emily and Betsey about the design process, research initiatives, and impact coming out of Rural Studio’s impact building client-specific Passive House over the last three years. Learn more.

3. WED: Larch Corner Passive House + Timber (EARLIER Showtime)

On October 20 we will hold our once-monthly EARLIER Global Passive House Showcase (11 am Pacific/2 pm Eastern/7 pm BST) to welcome England-based Passive House pro, Mark Siddall. Mark will dive into the details of Larch Corner Passivhaus, a recipient of Passivhaus Trust’s single-family award. Larch Corner achieves Zero Carbon status through modern timber engineering techniques and an emphasis on sustainably sourced timber. Mark is the director of Architecture and Research at LEAP (Lovingly Engineered Architectural Practice) as well as a Passive House pioneer for the UK. Learn more.

5. Our UK/Ireland-based Miniseries starts October 28

Passive House Accelerator is launching Building Performance Interactive, an 8-part monthly miniseries, on October 28 at 2pm BST (9 am ET). The first episode will feature the inimitable Tomas O'Leary.

Like our Passive House Showcase and Construction Tech, BPI will be free and virtual, focused on inclusivity, collaboration, and the elevation of high-performance building as its guiding principles. Episodes will provide a platform for audiences in continental Europe, Ireland, and the United Kingdom to learn about Passive House design principles, nZEB (nearly zero-energy building) techniques, and other high-performance building methodologies that can help ensure compliance with the increasingly rigorous codes and policy goals of governments throughout the UK, Ireland, and Europe.

Hugh Whiriskey of Partel will serve as co-host of the series, along with Mike Jacob of KISS House and Ben Adam-Smith of House Planning Help. We hope to see you on October 28! Register here.

6. Passive House Crash Course For Students

This fall, Passive House Accelerator is partnering with the AIAS chapter from New York Institute of Technology to bring students a free and open-to-all crash course in Passive House design and careers. This 1-hour lunchtime special will take a dive into the design principles that drive Passive House performance, the wide range of building typologies possible, and how to become a certified Passive House designer or consultant.

Come learn how to design homes and buildings that are safer for people and better for the planet. While this course is tailored to design, architecture, engineering students we welcome all students interested in creating a career out of climate action. Register here.
