RetrofitNY Offers Additional Incentives to Owners Who Perform Deep Energy Retrofits

In a previous issue of Passive House Accelerator magazine, we talked about some of the programs and incentives that New York state has employed and is continuing to employ to encourage owners to perform deep energy retrofits on multifamily buildings. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has committed $30 million to pilot projects that do just that through RetrofitNY, which aims to drive down the price of retrofits and accelerate the adoption low carbon retrofits. This includes a new round of $5 million in incentives for first adopters for all electric deep energy retrofit pilot projects for affordable multifamily dwellings through PON 4878.

At present, qualified pilot participants are eligible for up to $100,000 in funding for design and up to $40,000 per dwelling unit for construction. Per the NYSERDA website, “In order to apply for funding through PON 4878, building owners need to be qualified through Request for Qualifications RFQL 4552. They will then need to partner with a solution provider qualified through RFQL 4553 and providing an all-electric whole building solution comprised of components qualified through RFQL 4551.”
