Dennis Wedlick (FAIA), the organizer of AIANY CRAN’s January 26 event, “ResArch Practice: High-Performance Homebuilders” and subtitled “Aiming for Near-Zero Carbon Homes”, describes the gathering as a mini Passive House film festival.
Attendees will be treated to four video shorts that dive into the why and how of four diverse residential Passive House projects in New York: an affordable housing community; a new home left in limbo by one builder but rescued by another who was new to PH; another new home built by a seasoned Passive House hand; and an ambitious Passive House retrofit of a historic masonry townhouse in Brooklyn.
A through-line in each story: once you’ve done a Passive House project, there’s no going back. Experience with Passive House changes the way that architects view design and builders approach construction. Want to learn why? Join us on January 26th. (6–8pm Eastern)
On a personal level, I can’t wait to play the role of moderator for the panel discussion, which will feature the inspiring starring actors from the four video shorts: Michael Ingui, Brian Marsh, Jen Marsh, Buck Morehead, James Moriarty, and Michelle Tinner.
The program will start with a quick intro to Passive House, so the entire event is perfect for newbies to Passive House, too. Do you know someone who’s curious about Passive House design or construction? Invite them! Know someone who is skeptical about Passive House? Invite them, too! I hope to see you there.
