Massive Irish Passive House Development

Nearly 600 social or affordable homes are coming to Shankill, a suburban community nestled in the southeast corner of County Dublin on the Irish Sea. Apart from being the nation’s largest proposed social and affordable scheme to receive planning permission from An Bord Pleanála, the 9‑hectacre development will be one of the largest in Europe to be built to the Passive House standard.

Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council and the Land Development Agency will be overseeing the project, which will include:

  • 200 social homes

  • 91 affordable homes for purchase

  • 306 affordable cost-rental homes
