3. Featured Article of the Week

Town of Bethel rendering water color (1)

The town of Bethel, New York became famous overnight in 1969 as the site of the original Woodstock music festival. Today, the town still attracts pilgrims and concertgoers, especially to the 16,000-seat Bethel Woods Center for the Arts amphitheater sitting just south of where the festival took place over 50 years ago, but Bethel mostly continues to be a quiet rural community in the Catskills about midway between Poughkeepsie and Scranton. Lauren Thomsen and Matt Gindlesparger, (Lauren Thomsen Design) and Ralph Loielo and John Roderick, (Scribe Design Build) join the Accelerator to discuss challenges and opportunities that have risen during the design and construction of a new construction single family passive rowhouse project on a very small infill lot in the Northern Liberties neighborhood of Philadelphia. The project is Pre-Certified for PHIUS+ 2018 (Passive House) certification, and will ultimately be net zero capable, thanks to a solar array that will be located on the roof.

PhiusCon 2022: Emissions Down, Power Up! (Oct 25-28)
PhiusCon is coming home to Chicago Oct. 25-28 at the historic Palmer House. Last year, Phius set its sights on expansion with its motto “Emissions Down, Scale Up!” and despite the obstacles presented by COVID, shared that vision with a sold-out crowd in Tarrytown, New York. PhiusCon 2021 created a wave of momentum, and Phius is looking to carry that into PhiusCon 2022 as it builds for the future. And you can’t talk about building for the future without mentioning electrification, so Phius decided to put a charge into this year’s motto: “Emissions Down, Power Up!” Learn more
