Three Passive House Projects Score Wins at Canadian Green Building Awards
Sustainable Architecture & Building Magazine just announced the winners of the 13th annual Canadian Green Building Awards. Of 2020’s nine winners, three were built using Passive House design principles.
First up is West Vancouver’s West Bay Passive House, which was designed by BattersbyHowat Architects. The home was one of the winners in the category of Small Residential. You may remember our post on this gorgeous project back in April.
Kearns Mancini Architects’ The Reach Guesthouse (imaged) was the other winner in Small Residential. This project incorporated EnerPHit standards into the renovation of a 19th century farmhouse in the southern Ontario community of Prince Edward County.
Finally, there is the Charter Telecom Headquarters in Victoria, which was the sole winner in the Small Commercial/Industrial category. Designed by Waymark Architecture, it is poised to become North America’s first commercial office to achieve Passive House certification.
