1. TUE: Fraley Street EnerPHit with Norm Horn & Gary Moshier

As PA Wilds nears the end of its EnerPHit retrofit journey, architect Gary Moshier and design-build project manager Norm Horn will join us on September 14 for Constructin Tech. The two will talk about the Passive House techniques and technologies that took this 1800’s shell in the rural town of Kane, PA to a Passive House certified building. Join Gary and Norm for a plethora of technical lessons learned from the duos first Passive House retrofit (though past retrofit endeavors have achieved other beyond code certifications). Learn more.

2. WED: Harbor Village Affordable Passive House

On September 15, Michelle Apigian of ICON Archicture will join us to present Harbor Village, a 30-unit affordable development in the town of Gloucester, which is on track to be the third certified Passive House multifamily building in Massachusetts. Michelle will be joined by Beverly Craig of MassCEC and Tom Chase of New Ecology to dive into the challenges of designing contemporary buildings in historic contexts, the policies that led to the PH boom, and key strategies for working with general contractors who are new to Passive House. 3. NOW LIVE: Episode 52 of the Passive House Podcast

4. Save the Date: Fall Conferences & Summits

25th International Passive House Conference (September 10-15)
The first segment of the now entirely-virtual event started on Friday, September 10, and continued through Sunday, September 12. The second part of the conference will then run from Tuesday, September 14, through Wednesday, September 15. Learn more.

PassivhausMAINE Fall Forum (September 16-18)
The ninth passivhausMAINE fall conference is happening September 16, 17, and 18 virtually. The online conference will start September 16 with an afternoon of workshops and an evening dinner and presentation. On September 17, there will be a full day of à la carte online seminars focusing on four themes, in addition to a packed 90-minute expert presentation and “Q and A” session. On September 18, they’ll offer four-building tours–spread across the state–detailing buildings that are part of passivhausMAINE’s retrofit initiative. Learn more.

Tower Retrofit Symposium 2021 Passive House Canada (September 22-23)
Across Canada, tall buildings are on the cusp of a major market shift, driven by our need to drastically reduce emissions and capture a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to perform deep energy retrofits.
